Practical and other
Can I choose school myself?
Yes you can. All children receive a placement at a school in their municipality. But you always have the right to apply to another municipal school, or an independent school, for instance if you would rather have a special orientation.
What is an independent school? (friskola)
An independent school is not run by the public sector. Björkskolan follows the curriculum, laws and regulations that apply to all primary schools.
What sets Björkskolan apart from other high schools (grades 6-9)?
Björkskolan is an independent school (friskola) with Christian values. We accept a smaller number of students. This means that we have smaller classes and can more easily adapt the teaching to each individual. Today we have roughly 80 students, from grades 6 to 9.
How does our teaching work?
We believe in flexible learning. We know that people learn in different ways, and therefore we adapt our teaching so that everyone can absorb as much as possible.
Do I have to be a Christian to attend Björkskolan?
No, not at all. We welcome all students, regardless of background, values and outlook on life.
Does it cost anything to attend Björkskolan?
No it does not. We are financed by municipal grants and do not charge student fees.
What happens if Björkskolan makes a profit?
Björkskolan is non-profit-making, everything is rather about offering a school that provides its students with a good start in life. If the business were to turn a profit, every single Swedish crown is reinvested into the business.
How do I apply for a spot at the school?
You send us an expression of interest through our form under the Apply tab. An expression of interest is not binding.
By when should the application be submitted at the latest?
We accept applications on an ongoing basis. You can always choose a school - even when the term has started.
